Zeren Oruc

22.11.2023

During this participatory experience/discussion, crying took a form of reclamation, which aimed to uncover and release layers of suppressed knowledge, emotions, and narratives that are intertwined with our food systems. As participants came together to remap culturally acquired tastes and smells from the landscape of Weimar, they discuss and share collective memories and ancestral knowledge that transcends generations. the intergenerational passing down of wisdom, the recognition of food sources, and the mourning for lost connection with the land.

Zeren Oruc is an independent curator dedicated to exploring and addressing modern issues of ecology, society, and sustainability through interdisciplinary artistic projects.
